Peter J. Opitz

Peter Joachim Opitz (born November 19, 1937 in Brieg ) is a professor emeritus for political science at the Geschwister-Scholl-Institute for Political Science of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich .

Opitz is the editor of numerous works by and about Eric Voegelin . He heads the Eric Voegelin Archive at the University of Munich. In his publications he has dealt with the history of political ideas, international relations and, above all, the history and present of China.

In 1989 Peter J. Opitz was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon . He lives in Wolfratshausen .
