Peter Jezler

Peter Roland Jezler (born November 26, 1954 in Zurich ), authorized to reside in Schaffhausen , is a Swiss art historian and museum director .

Live and act

Peter Jezler studied art history , church history and German at the University of Zurich and graduated in 1982 with a licentiate . In 1986 he worked as an assistant at the Department of Art History at the University of Zurich. From 1987 to 1997 he was a member and president of the editorial committee of the magazine Kunst + Architektur . From 1989 to 1997 he also worked for the publication Die Kunstdenkmäler der Schweiz . In addition, he worked as a curator of various exhibitions, including Heaven, Hell, Purgatory - The Beyond in the Middle Ages in the Landesmuseum Zurich and theKunsthalle Cologne .

From 1997 to 2009 Peter Jezler was director of the Bern Historical Museum . From 2009 to 2010 he was rector of the University of Art and Design at the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland in Basel . Since 2011 he has been director of the Museum zu Allerheiligen in Schaffhausen. There he was released on August 26, 2014 based on the results of an internal investigation report by the city council and released on November 4, 2014. Since 2015 he has been working as a freelance consultant and runs the private academy “Art in Context”.

Peter Jezler is a member of the Guild of Tailors and in the Rotary Club Schaffhausen-Munot.
