Peter Kaplony
Peter Arpad Kaplony (born June 15, 1933 in Budapest ; † February 11, 2011 in Zurich ; legal domicile there ) was a Swiss Egyptologist .
Kaplony, the son of a professional officer, came to Switzerland in December 1944 and received Swiss citizenship in 1958 . He studied ancient history , Egyptology, and Arabic language and literature at the universities in Zurich and Basel . In 1959 he received his doctorate in Zurich , where he completed his habilitation in 1964 . From 1970 until his retirement in 2000 he was assistant professor for Egyptology at the Oriental Seminary at the University of Zurich.
