Peter Katzenstein

Peter Joachim Katzenstein (born February 17, 1945 in Hamburg ) is a German political scientist and Walter S. Carpenter Jr. Professor of International Relations at Cornell University in Ithaca .

Katzenstein studied political science at the London School of Economics and Swarthmore College and received a Ph.D. from Harvard University . The British newspaper The Economist named him one of the most influential intellectuals in the field of international political economy. He is also a member of the influential Council on Foreign Relations .

In 1987 he was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences , in 2009 to the American Philosophical Society and in 2015 to the British Academy . Katzenstein was awarded the Skyttean Prize for 2020 .
