Peter Klier

Peter Klier (born July 12, 1949 ) is a former German soccer player. In the 1970s and 1980s he was active in second division football in the GDR .

Athletic career

As a young player, Peter Klier played for the SG Dynamo Süd Halle police sports club. In the 1969/70 season he played his first three games in the second-rate GDR league for SG Dynamo Eisleben . In the following three seasons, in which a total of 72 league games were played, Klier was used 57 times. In 1973 he and his teammate Helmut Kieruj became the Eislebeners' top scorer with ten goals. However, the team had to relegate to the district league. There she became district champion with Klier and thus managed to immediately rise again. In the GDR league seasons 1974/75 and 1975/76, Klier missed only one point game and helped to lead SG Dynamo 1975 to second place in the GDR league. It was the best placement in the history of the GDR League for the People's Police .

After Klier had only played six times for Eisleben in the GDR league in the first half of the season in 1976/77, he moved to the GDR league club BSG Kali Werra Tiefenort for the second half of the season . There he played all of the remaining eight league games, but could not score any goals. In the 1977/78 season he was only used in four GDR league games for BSG Kali Werra.

From the season 1978/79 on Peter Klier was active for the BSG Mansfeldkombinat Sangerhausen . Klier played two seasons with the Sanger houses in the Halle district league before they became district champions in 1980 and rose to the GDR league. In the 1980/81 GDR league season, Klier was used 15 times in the 22 league games, and he scored once.

The BSG Mansfeldkombinat was only able to stay in the second class for one year and never returned there. Peter Klier, now 32 years old, no longer appeared in high-class football. In his nine GDR league seasons he had completed 136 league games and scored 21 goals.
