reception

"The loving attention to detail is the result of thorough planning: [...] The drawing process is also complex: first draft with pencil, then the scanned drawing is colored on the computer, then printed out, then redrawn by hand so that that The picture is all of a piece and doesn't look as clean as it was constructed on the computer. And then the drawing is scanned again and processed again on the computer in order to eliminate small errors. "

"In their Wimmel books, Doro Göbel and Peter Knorr paint a picture of a very diverse society in which people with very different identities come together. You can see this particularly well in the families in their books: There are not only classic nuclear families, but a wide variety of family models, Same-sex partners as well as those with different ethnic and cultural backgrounds. The characters are also not limited to classic gender roles. "

"Hidden object books are probably the most communicative genre of children's literature: parents and children put the pictures into words, retell the drawn stories, describe the protagonists. The more narrative material a hidden object book provides, the better it works. The masters of this genre are the illustrators Doro Göbel and Peter Knorr ... "
