Peter Kummer (politician)

Peter Kummer (born October 13, 1945 - † October 12, 2017 ) was a Swiss politician ( SVP ).

From 1980 to 1982, Kummer was Vice President of the Oberaach School Authority and a member of the Amriswil Realschule Board of Directors . From 1982 to 1997 he was a member of the Amriswil primary school authority, which he chaired from 1989 to 1997. At the same time he was president of the Amriswil kindergarten teacher seminar. From 1982 to 1993 member of the upper level authority in Amriswil and from 1995 to 1997 member of the municipal council.

From 1997 to 2009 Peter Kummer was Mayor of Amriswil. During this time he also chaired the Aachtal sewage association, the Almensberg regional shooting range and the board of directors of Autokurse Oberthurgau AG. After his resignation in 2009 he was granted honorary citizenship of Amriswil.

From 2000 he was a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Thurgau . In 2011/2012, Peter Kummer was President of the Grand Council of the Canton of Thurgau, having previously been Vice-President. Kummer lived in Oberaach, a district of Amriswil.
