Peter Lloyd (economist)
Peter John Lloyd (born June 20, 1937 in Manaia ) is a New Zealand economist . He is professor emeritus at the University of Melbourne .
Life
Lloyd graduated from Victoria University of Wellington ( BA , 1958 and MA , 1959). His doctorate took place in 1962 at Duke University . Lloyd taught at Wellington from 1962 to 1965 and at Michigan State University from 1965 to 1968 . From 1969 to 1983 Lloyd was a fellow at the Australian National University . In 1983 he became professor in Melbourne and retired there in 2003.

Lloyd's research areas are foreign trade theory , Asian economies, and microeconomics . Together with Herbert Grubel, Lloyd is the namesake of the Grubel-Lloyd-Index .
