Peter Lordmann

Peter Lordmann ( March 22, 1874 in Cologne - January 27, 1955 in Regensburg ) was a German opera singer ( bass , baritone ) who also had at least one appearance in silent films . He also worked as a theater director .

Life

Peter Lordmann began his career as a concert singer with appearances in Düsseldorf and Cologne in 1897. In the same year he also made his debut at the Hoftheater in Kassel. From 1898 to 1902 he was committed to the United City Theaters in Graz, where he made his debut as "Zuniga" in Carmen and there until 1902 he was successful in bass and bass buffo parts.

From 1902 to 1904 he worked at the Hoftheater Karlsruhe, 1904 to 1905 at the Cologne Opera House, 1905 to 1909 at the Vienna Volksoper , 1909 to 1912 at the Dresden Court Opera and from 1912 to 1916 at the German Opera House in Berlin .

He briefly took part in the First World War as a soldier and continued his career from 1917 to 1919 at the City Theater of Bremen and from 1919 to 1921 at the State Theater of Wiesbaden. He then worked as a guest and was employed as a singer and director at the city theater of Hagen (Westphalia) from 1923 to 1924.

From the series of his best performances the following are mentioned: "Mephisto" in Faust and Mephistopheles , "St. Bris "in Huguenots ," Dr. Cajus "in Funny Women etc.

Lordmann had a splendid baritone voice, always avoided sticking to the template, rather showed very original ideas in each of his roles. His musical security was particularly recognized.
