Peter Mählmann (born September 30, 1923 in Hamburg ; † November 8, 2010 ibid) was the board spokesman and chairman of the board of directors of Hamburger Sparkasse - HASPA for short.

Life

Mählmann received early in 1942 at the School for Boys in Eppendorf for its invitation to the Wehrmacht , the Notabitur awarded. After completing his training, he went to war in the east, where he was seriously wounded and, after recovering, could no longer be used in the war. He began studying law while he was recovering.

In 1953 he entered the service of the Hamburger Sparcasse from 1827 , in which he, meanwhile appointed to the board, worked from 1968 for the merger with the competition in Hamburg, the Neue Sparkasse from 1864 , to become the Hamburger Sparkasse. In addition, against resistance from Schleswig-Holstein, he expanded the branch system beyond the Hamburg borders.

He owes the name Mr. Sparkasse to these efforts .

From 1977 until his retirement in 1988 Mählmann was spokesman for the board of the (unified) Hamburger Sparkasse (n).

From 1989 to 1997 Mählmann was Chairman of the Board of Directors. On the occasion of his departure, the Sparkasse founded the Peter Mählmann Foundation at the end of 1996, which pays out around 150,000 euros annually to support young people in upbringing, culture, education and sport.
