Peter Moore

Peter Moore (born July 18, 1962 in Sydney ) is an Australian travel writer.

Life

Moore grew up in Sydney, where he first attended the Hurlstone Agricultural High School and later the University of Sydney , where he studied Medieval Studies . After obtaining his bachelor's degree , he finished his studies. In the following years Moore traveled a lot and worked as a copywriter and as an English teacher in Tokyo. In 1993 he quit his job and devoted himself exclusively to traveling. In 1997, Transworld ( Random House Publishing Group ) published his first book, No Shitting in the Toilet , and has since published five more books. From 2020, the unpublished book Going Around in Circles about a 1993 trip along the equator was published in the form of a weblog . Moore currently lives in London.

Apart from his first work No Shitting in the Toilet , which is a collection of anecdotes in the style of a travel guide, each of Moore's books deals with a trip. So describes Swahili for the Broken Hearted the way from Cape Town to Cairo by public transport, while in Vroom with a View the Milan-Rome route to a 1961 Vespa is covered. All books are held in first person perspective and characterized by a lot of situation comedy .

  • 2004: Nominated for the WHSmith People's Choice Book Award with Swahili for the Broken-Hearted .
