Peter Morger (born February 12, 1955 in Teufen AR ; † February 12, 2002 in Trogen AR ) was a Swiss writer.

Life

After attending the Trogen Cantonal School , Morger studied German at the University of Bern and worked as a freelance journalist for the Appenzeller Zeitung . Morger was unable to build on the success of his debut novel Notstrom in 1980 with his other literary work. He was looking for new ways of expressing himself in the dialect with a “dialect-Lüürik”. Morger was in inpatient psychiatric treatment between 1999 and 2001. He ended his life on his 47th birthday.

In 1981 and 1985 Morger received the city of Bern's sponsorship award. The Museum for Life Stories in Speicher AR dedicated an exhibition to him in 2012.

Morger's estate is in the Ausserrhoder canton library , from which Rainer Stöckli edited six issues between 2009 and 2012.
