Peter Nell , actually Kurt Heinze (born October 10, 1907 in Berlin ; † November 27, 1957 there ) was a German writer and politician ( SED ). From 1950 to 1952 he was a member of the Brandenburg State Parliament .

Life

Nell, the son of a worker, became a commercial employee and joined the Socialist Workers' Youth (SAJ) at the age of 16 and the Communist Party of Germany (KPD) in 1927 . He wrote for Die Rote Fahne and was a correspondent in the Soviet Union in 1931/32 . After 1933 he offered active resistance in the illegal KPD in Berlin. He worked in Berlin's Osthafen from 1934 to 1939 and barely escaped arrest. From 1939 to 1945 he had to do military service in the Wehrmacht and was seriously wounded.

After the end of the war he became a member of the KPD again and in 1946 of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED). He worked as an editor and editor-in-chief of newspapers in Berlin and Potsdam . He was one of the founding members of the Kulturbund and was state chairman in Brandenburg . From November 3, 1950 to July 25, 1952, Nell represented the Kulturbund as a member of the Brandenburg State Parliament in the second electoral period. He was then a member of the Potsdam District Parliament .

He became a board member of the German Writers' Association and was its secretary from 1953 to 1955. From 1955 until his death he headed the main department for fine literature in the Ministry of Culture of the GDR .

Nell died at the age of 50 after a serious illness in the Charité and was buried in the Pergolenweg grave complex in the Friedrichsfelde central cemetery in Berlin .
