Peter Paetzold

Peter Paetzold (born March 16, 1935 in Plau , Mecklenburg ) is a German chemist and emeritus professor for inorganic chemistry at RWTH Aachen University .

Life

He studied at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . In 1961 his doctorate took place here in Egon Wiberg's group ; in his dissertation he dealt with the thermal decomposition of boron azides .

After his habilitation ( 1966 ), he taught at LMU for two more years. He then moved to a chair for inorganic chemistry at RWTH Aachen University.

In his research he mainly dealt with the molecular chemistry of the element boron , in particular with iminoboranes and cluster compounds. His list of publications includes around 180 works.

Paetzold resigned in 2000 in retirement .

After various books and textbooks on chemistry, he published a textbook on general chemistry in autumn 2009.
