Boric acid

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As Boron azides or Azidoborane refers to a group of chemical compounds , the at least one covalently bound to the boron -bonded azide group contain. The group includes the monoazidoboranes with the general formula R 2 BN 3 , the diazidoboranes RB (N 3 ) 2 and the boron triazide B (N 3 ) 3 . Both organic and inorganic substituents can represent the substitution R. In addition, salts of tetraazidoborates [B (N 3 ) 4 ] - are known.

history

The first synthesis of a boron azide, the compounds boron triazide B (N 3 ) 3 and lithium tetraazidoborate Li [B (N 3 ) 4 ] was achieved by Egon Wiberg in 1954. The synthesis and the subsequent chemistry were essentially further developed by Peter Paetzold .

Manufacturing

Borazides can be classified according to the general reaction equation

produce. Lithium azide or trimethylsilyl azide are preferably used as azidating agents . Toluene or dichloromethane , for example, serve as solvents . Volatile components can be removed in vacuo. The cleaning takes place, for example, by recrystallization.

Reactions

As Lewis acids , the boron azides form adducts with Lewis bases such as pyridine when appropriately substituted . Dichloroborazide reacts at 200 ° C. with elimination of nitrogen to form hexachloroborazole . Borazides are often explosive and must be handled with extreme care.
