Peter Panduranga Bayreuther

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Peter Panduranga Bayreuther (born February 12, 1955 in Minden , Westphalia ) is a German composer, jazz violinist and overtone singer . As a composer, he has developed his own system of overtone harmonics, which gives his works an unmistakable note. As a violinist, he combines traditional virtuoso jazz violin playing with an avant-garde electronic performance. His appearances are performances in which instrumental play is combined with simultaneous singing and tap dancing . Stylistically, he strives to overcome the boundaries between melodic pop-rock music, virtuoso jazz and avant-garde. His close contacts to India and to musicians of classical Indian music can be seen in his works since around 2000 , which have led to a concept of “music as yoga ”.

Life

Peter Bayreuther completed his music studies at the University of Münster with a focus on 20th century music and wrote his thesis on the concert songs by Hanns Eisler . He trained as a jazz violinist, overtone singer and yoga teacher / yoga instructor (BYV and BYVG) and composed around 400 songs in the genre of pop, rock, world music and spiritual song.

After his first career as a jazz violinist (with Sibylle Pomorin , Harald Kimmig , Harald Teubner, among others ), he founded the music production wilde rose together with Willem Schulz , where he has been producing and teaching ever since. Since 1982 he has had several teaching assignments for jazz improvisation at the University of Oldenburg and the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences. In 1984 he founded the First Improvising String Orchestra together with Wolfgang Martin Stroh and Willem Schulz , which has since given over 175 concerts and performances. From 1987 to 2010 he appeared 36 times in the Brain and Body project in festivals for experimental music and avant-garde clubs.

After training as a yoga teacher (BYV) and yoga teacher trainer (BYVG), he heads a supraregional yoga institute ( Yoga Vidya ) with a focus on music as yoga . In this function there is an exchange with the Indian singers Ashes and Alick Sengupta from Calcutta, where he gives concerts every year. His “spiritual” compositions are based on a harmony he developed himself, a melodically extended “ overtone harmony ”.

Since 1985 there have been television appearances in Germany, England, Holland, Austria and India. He has been married to Karin Bayreuther since 1984, with whom he wrote many songs together.
