Life

The grandson of Peter Edler von Reiningshaus or son of Johann Edlen von Reininghaus and his wife Gina, who later became Gina Conrad von Hötzendorf , studied chemistry and physics in Graz and from 1920 assumed a leading position in the brewery belonging to his family. Peter Reininghaus led the company out of the difficulties of the post-war period of the First World War with its loss of the large economic area of ​​the Danube Monarchy . He also succeeded in gaining control over the Göss brewery .

From 1945 he devoted himself to rebuilding the family business. Peter Reinighaus was also a great promoter of steric hops. On his initiative, farmers were won over in the Leutschach area in the early 1950s to start growing hops. Today, 15 farms on over 80 hectares of cultivation area produce almost 20% of the hops required by the steric breweries.
