Peter Richter (born January 25, 1941 ) is a former German football player who played 25 times in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of GDR football , for BSG Wismut Gera in 1966/67 .

Athletic career

Until 1962, Peter Richter played football for the tractor company sports association (BSG) in Großenstein , Thuringia , ten kilometers from the then district town of Gera . For the 1962/63 season, Richter joined the second-rate GDR league club Wismut Gera at the age of 21 . There he became a regular player in his first season with 22 appearances in 26 games and five goals scored. He initially maintained this status until the 1965/66 season. In this season he played 20 of 30 point games, scored seven goals and thus had a significant share in the rise of BSG Wismut in the GDR top division.

In the league season 1966/67 Richter missed only one of 26 point games. He was always used as a striker and played mainly on the half-left position. With his eight goals he was the most successful goalscorer of his team, but his goals did not change the bad goal difference of 27:57. Since only four victories were achieved, Wismut Gera rose again from the league after a year.

After a season with only nine GDR league appearances, Richter made it back to the Gera team in 1968/69. He remained a regular player until 1972, in the four seasons 1968/69 to 1971/72 he reached 96 missions in the 112 matches played. In the 1970/71 season he was again the Gera shooter king with eight goals. At the age of 31 Richter went into his last GDR league season in 1972/73. He was only used nine times and scored his last two goals for the GDR league team. He came to 56 goals within eleven seasons, each time in which he entered the goalscorer list. Richter played a total of 232 point games for the BSG Wismut Gera.
