Peter Ring

Peter Ring (born September 24, 1941 in Munich ) is a German nuclear physicist .

Ring came as the son of the Higher Regional Court Judge Joseph Ring and Berta Ring, geb. Christ, to the world. After graduating from high school, he studied physics at what was then the Technical University of Munich . The diploma in 1966 was followed by the doctorate in 1969 and the habilitation in 1975.

After working as an assistant and lecturer, he was appointed to the chair for theoretical nuclear physics at the Technical University of Munich in 1980. Together with Peter Schuck, he is the author of a standard textbook on the many-body problem in nuclear physics. Both received the Lise Meitner Prize in 2018 .
