Peter Ruckenbauer

Peter Ruckenbauer (born April 13, 1939 in Wiener Neustadt ; † April 14, 2019 ) was an Austrian agricultural scientist in the field of plant breeding .

Life

After school, agricultural training and high school diploma at HLBLA Wieselburg , Ruckenbauer studied agriculture at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna. After graduating as a Dipl.-Ing. agr. in 1965 he worked as a scientific employee at the Institute for Plant Cultivation and Plant Breeding at the same university and obtained his doctorate in 1967. rer. nat. techn. After research stays in Cambridge, USA, Guatemala, Argentina, he returned to Vienna and qualified as a professor in plant breeding. In 1983 he was appointed full professor at the chair for applied genetics and plant breeding at the University of Hohenheim, where he was also dean of the agricultural science faculty from 1987 to 1989. After being appointed and returning to the professorship for plant cultivation and plant breeding at the University of Vienna, Ruckenbauer was head of the Inter- University Research Institute for Agrobiotechnology (IFA) in Tulln . In 2005 Peter Ruckenbauer retired.
