Peter Ruge (cartoonist)

Peter Ruge (* 1946 in Herrsching ) is a German cartoonist .

Life

Peter Ruge grew up as the son of a dentist in Schwenningen . After attending high school, he completed training as a precision mechanic and 18 months of military service. He got into advertising through training as a technical draftsman and then as a graphic artist . He first worked in various agencies and then began studying at the Free Art School in Stuttgart in 1976 .

Peter Ruge has been working as a freelance caricaturist since 1979 and from then on has worked for publishers, printers and advertising agencies. He became known through the publication of his cartoons in satirical magazines and magazines as well as through book illustrations . In addition to his drawings and collages, Peter Ruge also created postage stamp collages and various material images with shoes and teeth.

In 2002 he began to design cartoons with needle and thread as fabric pictures. With his series "Strand gut" - a series of 80 pictures of exaggerated depictions of vacation scenes on the beach - he achieved fame with exhibitions in Switzerland and France. In his career to date, Peter Ruge has illustrated more than 50 books. Ruge lives in Stuttgart and Berlin .
