Career

Coming from the offspring of SC Reichersbeuern , he moved to EC Bad Tölz as a youngster and played there for four years in the Bundesliga for his team from the 1972/73 season . When the Tölzer began their way into the second division, he moved to the 1976/77 season for Berliner SC . There he made the leap into the German national ice hockey team and played his first international tournament in 1977 and was henceforth an integral part of the German selection. After two seasons in Berlin, he went back to Bavaria - the SB DJK Rosenheim signed him and Peter Scharf won the German championship title with the Sportbund twice in the following nine seasons (1982 and 1985). During this time he took part in the Olympic Games in Lake Placid in 1980 and in Sarajevo in 1984 .

At the age of 35, Scharf took a little sportier step and switched back to EC Bad Tölz, where he spent two years in the second division team. In the 1990/91 season he played for EHC Straubing in the Regionalliga before ending his career.

After retiring, he ran a kiosk in Bad Tölz. At EC Bad Tölz he coached the youth teams and the 1b team.
