Peter Schneider (* 1961 in Lübbecke ) was national chairman of the AUF - party for work, environment and family, which sees itself as Christian from 2009 to 2010 . The party was first admitted to the European elections on June 7, 2009 under his leadership .

Peter Schneider studied computer science from 1981 to 1987 at the University of Dortmund and then economics at the University of Mainz until 1994, where he also received his doctorate. He then worked at Siemens AG until 1999 and since then in Thuringia in the management team as Head of Controlling / IT for Rosskopf & Partner AG.

Political career

The politician joined the Ecological Democratic Party (ödp) in 1985 . From 1990 to 1993 he was chairman of the Rhineland-Palatinate regional association. At the federal level, he was deputy spokesman for the ödp federal program commission and financial policy spokesman for the federal party. Since 2007 he has worked in the Steering Committee Aufbruch 09 , which was supposed to prepare a merger of the small Christian parties. After the merger plans failed in autumn 2007, he became co-founder and deputy chairman of the UP party in 2008 . From January to December 2009 he was the successor of Walter Weiblen as Federal Chairman of the AUF. Under his chairmanship, the small party collected the 4,000 signatures required for admission to the European elections , so that the party ran for the first time on June 7, 2009. In this election, 0.1% of voters voted for the party. Vatican Radio broadcast an interview with Schneider on April 17, 2009 on the occasion of the European elections.
