Peter Schouten

Peter Schouten (* in Sydney ) is an Australian artist and illustrator who has been and is involved in various publications in the field of zoology and paleontology .

His works are characterized by naturalism and attention to detail, whereby Schouten also incorporates his own ideas and assumptions into his works when reconstructing extinct creatures , giving them an individual touch.

His early works deal primarily with the fauna of his home continent, Australia , and the first book in which his illustrations appear throughout, Prehistoric Animals of Australia , also deals with this topic. During his work as an illustrator and co-author, he worked with various scientists, including Tim Flannery ( Astonishing Animals , winner of the "Victorian Premier's Literary Award" 2005; A Gap in Nature , Possums of the World ) and John Long ( Feathered Dinosaurs ) .

In addition, Schouten became internationally known for his representation of Homo floresiensis , which was published in 2004 as the first scientific reconstruction of this type of hominini .

So far no book has been published in German with his participation.
