Peter Stichler (born January 15, 1958 in Ludwigsburg ) is a former German soccer player. The defender and midfielder played 22 games in the Bundesliga and scored one goal. He was also in 262 games in the 2nd Bundesliga on the field and was able to achieve 38 second division goals.

career

Stichler made his debut for the Stuttgarter Kickers on June 13, 1976 in the 1: 4 defeat against SpVgg Fürth in the second Bundesliga. In the following season he was able to establish himself in the second division squad and played 15 of his 23 sets of the season from the start. The defender scored his first professional goal on September 11, 1976 in an 8-1 win over Würzburger FV . He finally became a regular player from the 1977/78 season and hardly missed a game in the following four years.

In 1981, Stichler moved to league rivals FC Schalke 04 , with whom he was promoted to the Bundesliga. After he had gotten regular working time in the promotion season, he did not get beyond the status of a supplementary player in the following years, in which he commuted with the club between the first and second division. Therefore, he returned to the Stuttgarter Kickers in the second division in 1985, but could not establish himself in the team. In the summer of 1986 he went to Rot-Weiss Essen for two years , where he ended his professional football career in 1988 and moved to the amateur sector at Union Solingen .
