Peter Teumer

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Peter "Pedder" Teumer (born March 10, 1956 in Braunschweig ; † April 11, 2009 there ) was a German lyricist and singer. He was the founder of the band Daily Terror and was considered the first punk in Braunschweig.

Life

After a student exchange in London, Teumer returned to Braunschweig as punk in the late 1970s and became the forefather of the local scene. In 1979 he sang with the Bombed Bodies. After their dissolution, he founded the band Daily Terror in 1980, whose singer and front man he remained until his death. He later became a skinhead . In addition to his musical activities, Teumer worked for many years, initially as a decorator and, after retraining, as a businessman .

After a concert on March 14, 2009 in Dresden , Teumer had to go into inpatient treatment. A brain tumor was diagnosed in the hospital. Teumer died on April 11, 2009. He left an ex-wife and a daughter. His grave is in the main cemetery in Braunschweig .

Although no official breakup of Daily Terror has been announced, there has been no further activity under that name following the death of their frontman.

Political stance

Teumer's political stance has long been controversial because he did not clearly distance himself from right-wing extremist sections of the skinhead scene and at times had contacts with people from this scene.

Teumer later distanced himself from this scene and in 1993, with the band "Daily Terror", produced the title "Verstörte Kids", which is a clear statement against right-wing extremist violence and the attitudes associated with it. The publication took place at the left label Impact Records .
