Peter Thannabaur

Peter Josef Thannabaur (born September 25, 1932 in Sternberg , Moravia, † May 13, 1991 ) was a German librarian.

Career

Thannabaur studied musicology and English and received his doctorate in 1962 with the thesis The unanimous Sanctus of the Roman Mass in the handwritten tradition of the 11th to 16th centuries . Before that, he had already entered the service of the Munich City Library in 1961 and took over its management in 1977 after the unexpected death of Alfons Ott . During his tenure in 1984 the library moved to the Gasteig cultural center .
