Peter Van Steeden
Peter Van Steeden (born April 13, 1904 in Amsterdam , † January 3, 1990 in New Canaan , Connecticut ) was an American band leader and composer .
Van Steeden led his own band in the late 1920s and early 1930s, with which he also made recordings. In 1935 he became head of the orchestra of the radio show Town Hall Tonight by Fred Allen to succeed Lennie Hayton . He was also used by everyone for his funny numbers. In the field of jazz he was involved in four recording sessions between 1927 and 1928.
He was also known as the composer of the standard Home When Shadow Falls , who u. a. by Sam Cooke and Paul McCartney , as well as Mildred Bailey , Dick Haymes , Guy Lombardo and Julius Watkins .
