Peter van Wees

Peter van Wees (born June 13, 1973 in Sittard ) is a Dutch skeleton driver .

Peter van Wees lives in Groningen and has been a skeleton driver since 1998. The student is trained by Johann Luxemburger , previously by Tim Nardiello . Van Wees made his debut in January 2000 as 49th in the Skeleton World Cup in Lillehammer . At his first skeleton world championship in 2000 in Igls he was 35. In January 2001 he was the first time Dutch champion . In the period that followed, the Dutchman placed mainly in the middle and lower ranks, apart from winning the 2002 World Cup in Groningen. In 2003 he was again Dutch champion. He missed the qualification for the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin , but he took part as a supervisor of the Lebanese Patrick Antaki . Van Wees achieved his best result in the World Cup in December 2006 when he was eleventh in Lake Placid . In January 2007 he was also second behind Dirk Matschenz , who had meanwhile moved from the German squad to the Netherlands, and in 2008, 2009 and 2011 he won the national title again.
