Peter Weber-Schäfer

Peter Weber-Schäfer (born April 28, 1935 in Bernburg (Saale) ; † September 9, 2019 ) was a German political scientist and translator .

Life

Peter Weber-Schäfer studied Japanese Studies , Sinology , Ethnology and Philosophy in Munich . After his doctorate as Dr. phil. In 1958 with a dissertation on the , he was from 1958 to 1968 a research assistant at the Institute for Political Science in Munich. From 1968 until his retirement in 2000 he was a full professor for political science at the East Asia Institute of the Ruhr University Bochum . He also worked as a translator for fiction . He was married to the Greek Myrto Weber-Schäfer, née Akrita.
