Robert Elegant

Robert Sampson Elegant (born March 7, 1928 in New York City , USA ) is an American author and university professor who mainly deals with Asian topics.

Life

Elegant studied at the University of Pennsylvania , where he received his bachelor's degree . At this university he belonged to the Phi Beta Kappa fraternity . At Columbia University in New York City, he completed the tray Far East studies with the Master of Arts (MA) and the specialized journalism with the Master of Science from (MS). His study of the Chinese he finished at the Yale University .

Elegant was visiting professor at the University of South Carolina and Boston University , which also kept an archive of his war correspondent records during the Korean War . He is proficient in both classical and modern Chinese and Japanese . He also speaks German and Italian as well as a little Indonesian .

Private

From 1956 until her cancer death in 1999 Elegant was married to the painter Moira Clarissa Brady , whom he married in New Delhi , India . Since 2003 he has lived with his second wife in London and Italy .

The Chinese breed of dogs Shih Tzu is an elegant breed . He has been sailing and driving motor boats for 50 years.
