Peter Wilhelm Josef de Gynetti

Peter Wilhelm Josef de Gynetti (born December 9, 1735 in Münstereifel , † March 9, 1804 in Cologne ) was a German medic.

Life

After attending the Jesuit school in Münstereifel, he studied medicine, received his doctorate and was given a chair in surgery at the University of Cologne in 1772 . He soon gained a reputation as an “expertissimus”.

He worked hard to expand and modernize medical studies in Cologne. In 1781 Gynetti was appointed "Professor Primarius" of the faculty. In 1783 he moved to the Electoral College Bonn and was appointed there to the Electoral Cologne privy and was at the same time as the personal physician of the Elector operates.

Today the Gynettistraße in the north of the city of Bad Münstereifel reminds of him.
