Peter Wulf (born August 2, 1952 in Hamburg ) is a former German boxer . As a professional boxer, he was German super welterweight champion (also called light middleweight and junior middleweight).

Life

Wulf, who studied law, made his debut as a professional boxer in December 1973. In the course of his career he fought five times for the German championship title in super welterweight. Of those fights he won two, lost two, and one fight ended in a draw.

In his first championship fight in January 1975 against Peter Scheibner in Hamburg's Ernst-Merck-Halle , Wulf lost on points. As early as April 1975, Wulf and Scheibner met again, the fight for the German championship was held in Hamburg again, Wulf, supervised by Wilfrid Schulz as manager, won the points, which the Hamburger Abendblatt then classified as an "impressive march to the championship". Wulf, who suffered a laceration over his left eye in the course of the fight, had shown a "brilliant performance", the paper wrote.

Wulf, whose strengths as a boxer included quick legs and a good eye, defended his German championship title in September 1975 with a draw against Wolfgang Gans from Berlin . The hamburger was technically better in the fight, the Berlin goose was characterized by striking strength. The third meeting between Wulf and Scheibner took place in May 1976. In a fight that was characterized by a high pace and lasted twelve laps, Wulf came under heavy pressure towards the end and went down. He slept for a moment, said Wulf later, but he won on points. At the end of October 1976, Wulf had to surrender the German championship title after losing to Jean-André Emmerich , although Wulf lodged a complaint against the result because Emmerich was overweight at the weigh-in. In order to prepare for his state examination in law, Wulf took a long break from fighting. In his last two fights as a professional boxer in September 1977 there was a draw and a defeat.

Wulf worked professionally as a lawyer ; his clients also included Klaus-Peter Kohl and the Bund Deutscher Berufsboxer .
