Wolfgang Gans (born February 14,  1946 ) is a former German boxer .

Life

Gans made his debut as a professional boxer at the end of August 1973 with a victory over Karl Furcht . He had to admit defeat for the first time in mid-March 1974 when he lost to Gray Ibekwe from Nigeria in Cologne . In June 1974 Gans managed a convincing demolition victory over the former world champion Mando Ramos in Lübeck .

Gans competed in fights in other European countries ( Belgium , Spain , France , Austria and Denmark ), and his first title fight came at the end of September 1975. In Ketsch  , he met Peter Wulf , the German super welterweight champion. The fight ended in a draw, so Wulf remained champion.

After three defeats and one victory (rematch against Gray Ibekwe) Gans was in the ring with German middleweight champion Frank Reiche in May 1976 . Again there was a tie. In December 1977 Gans und Reiche contested a rematch, again the German middleweight championship title was at stake. The fight was held in Hamburg's Ernst-Merck-Halle . Reiche, who said he was thinking of giving up during the duel, won on points and retained the title. Gans, who also came from Berlin, recognized Gans as having a strong punch, a good eye and excellent reflexes, but he did not take advantage of the opportunities to defeat Reich early during the fight. After the defeat in Hamburg, Gans' career didn't get going. Four of the five fights that were still contested as a professional boxer until May 1979 were lost. Among them was another title fight: In May 1978 he lost to Jean-André Emmerich on points, it was about the German championship in junior middleweight.
