background

The name "PietCast" is made up of the words " PietSmiet " and "Podcast". On February 18, 2015, the podcast was announced by Peter Smits, founder of PietSmiet, in an audio contribution of almost three minutes. As a motivation for this, Smits mentioned that he wanted to talk to Christian Stachelhaus, also a member of PietSmiet, about their experiences at GEEK , a trade fair for video games. The issues of the GEEK fair were published from February 20-22 , 2015 . On February 25, 2015 it was announced that the PietCast would appear weekly. On December 22, 2017, Peter Smits announced that he did not want to continue the PietCast , but gave the other members of PietSmiet the opportunity to continue it. On September 28, 2018, employee Mikkel Robrahn reactivated the Pietcast, with him as the new moderator.

The PietCast was published on the YouTube channel PietSmietTV , later PietSmiet, on iTunes and on the website as an RSS feed .

Themes and Concept

concept

At the beginning of every PietCast, PietSmiet usually spoke about what she had experienced in the previous week and what video games she played during that time. This was followed by a discussion of various news and new computer games. In the third part, the moderators answered questions and suggested topics from the audience, which they could submit via e-mail . Furthermore, at the end of the podcast, a quiz about different dialects of the German language, which was also submitted by the audience via e-mail, was often played. Since Pietcast # 145 (The PietCast is back) Mikkel is the new host. There is no longer a division as before.

Occasionally there were episodes in which friends from the video game industry were guests, including Simon Krätschmer , Andre Peschke, Boris Lehfeld and HandOfBlood .

advertising

Peter Smits and Dennis Brammen recorded several audio clips in advance, which mostly advertised their own products. In addition, the moderator, mostly Smits, thanked Nitrado at the beginning of the PietCast, up to and including episode 121 , who provided the servers for the podcast.

Tour podcast

After the end of the PietCast had already been announced, PietSmiet brought out a podcast for every appearance of the “We love this circus tour 2018” in which they described their experiences of the tour.
