Coordinates: 32 ° 58 ′  S , 138 ° 50 ′  E The District Council of Peterborough is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of South Australia . The area is 3020 km² and has about 1700 inhabitants (2016).

Peterborough is located in the Northern Region about 220 kilometers north of the metropolis of Adelaide . The area consists of 22 hamlets and villages: Cavenagh, Dawson, Gumbowie, Hill Grange, Lancelot, McCoys Well, Methuen, Minvalara, Nackara, Nantabibbie, Oodlawirra, Paratoo, Parnaroo, Peecharra, Peterborough , Pitcairn, Sunnybrae, Thornton, Ucolta, White Well , Whyngoon and Yongala. The council is headquartered in the town of Peterborough to the southeast of the LGA.

The Peterborough Council has eight members, the seven councilors and the chairman and mayor of the council are elected by the residents of the LGA. Peterborough is not divided into districts.
