The Petite Rivière ( French for "small river") is a river in Lunenburg County in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia .
The Petite Rivière forms the drain of Hebb Lake 3 km south of the town of Bridgewater . The river flows below the Hebb Dam 2 km to the east located Fancy Lake . The two highways Nova Scotia Highway 103 and Nova Scotia Highway 3 cross the river on this route. The Petite Rivière leaves Fancy Lake on its east bank near Conquerall Mills . At Conquerall Mills, a hydroelectric power station was operated on the Petite Rivière until 1971 . The associated dam was demolished in 1977. The river now runs in a south-easterly direction. He passes a mill with an associated dam near Crousetown . The Nova Scotia Highway 331 crosses at Petite Rivière Bridge the river. To the east is the Petite Rivière estuary . The estuary bay is separated from the Green Bay of the Atlantic Ocean by a headland running south. Rissers Beach Provincial Park is located on the headland . The Petite Rivière has a length of 22 km. Its catchment area covers 244 km².
The lake system of Minamkeak Lake , Milipsigate Lake and Hebb Lake, located above the course of the Petite Rivière, is the habitat of a freshwater population of Coregonus huntsmani . The lake system is also used to supply Bridgewater with drinking water.
