Petra Becker (* 1961 in Karlsruhe ) is a German lawyer. She has been Lord Mayor of Stutensee since October 1, 2018 .

Live and act

Becker grew up in Friedrichstal . After graduating from high school, she studied law at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg , where she also passed her first state examination. The second state examination followed after her legal traineeship at the Karlsruhe Regional Court . In 1993 she became a legal assistant in the legal department of the city of Karlsruhe, today's Central Legal Service (ZJD). In July 2006 Becker became deputy head of office and since July 2016 she was head of office of the ZJD.

The ZJD is responsible for all legal matters of the city of Karlsruhe and is also responsible for the function of the lower administrative authority in the areas of monument protection, water law, nature and soil protection, waste and contaminated sites law, immission and occupational safety as well as civil status. The offices of the Equal Opportunities Officer and the Data Protection Officer are also assigned.

In 2018, the non-party Petra Becker applied for the mayoral election in Stutensee with the support of the Free Voters Council and SPD-Stutensee to succeed the resigned incumbent Klaus Demal (Free Voters).

In the first ballot on July 8th, Petra Becker was just behind Bettina Meier-Augenstein , who received 38.7 percent of the votes, with 36.3 percent of the vote , and in front of 3 other candidates. In the second ballot on July 22, 2018, only these two candidates ran. Becker won the election on July 22nd with 57.3 percent of the vote and thus became the new Lord Mayor of Stutensee.

Petra Becker is married and has a grown-up daughter.
