Petra Buchwald

Petra Buchwald (* 1961 in Düsseldorf ) is a German educator. She works at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal at the Institute for Educational Research in the School of Education. She is a professor of educational science and researches in the field of health psychology and school pedagogy for stress management .

Career

Buchwald began studying educational science , psychology and sociology and graduated in 1989 with a diploma from Heinrich-Heine University in Düsseldorf . She received her doctorate in 1996 on the subject of " Social Support and Competency Expectation in Old Age" and completed her habilitation in 2002 with the thesis " Dyadic coping in oral exams" at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf . She is currently professor for school education at the Institute for Educational Sciences in the School of Education at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal .

Buchwald is the author and editor of books, including “ Interculturality and School” (2017) and “ Stress and Anxiety - Coping and Resilience” (2017). She has published 60 academic papers and book chapters. She is also the editor of the HELP series of advice - help for parents, teachers and educators.

Over the course of her career, she has received several prizes and awards. In 2000 , she received the Bennigsen Foerder Prize for exceptional scientific achievements by the State of North Rhine-Westphalia for her research project “Coping with Stress Together” . In 2016 , Petra Buchwald was awarded the Lifetime Career Award 2016 by the international "Stress-Anxiety-Research Society".
