Petra Němcová ( ˈnjɛmtsovaː ; born June 24, 1979 in Karviná , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech photo model .

Life

Němcová began her modeling career at the age of 16. It was in 2003 on the cover of the swimsuit issue of Sports Illustrated displayed and worked for Victoria's Secret . In June 2004 she was a member of the jury for the choice of Miss Universum .

During the tsunami disaster on December 26, 2004 , Němcová was in Khao Lak , Thailand with her fiancé, photographer Simon Atlee . She narrowly escaped death by holding onto a palm tree for several hours until she could be rescued. Němcová suffered a broken pelvis in this accident and serious internal injuries. Her fiancé's body was discovered in Sumatra in March 2005 .

She first gave information about the near-death experience during this accident in March 2005 on the talk show Primetime Live on the US television channel ABC and later on Larry King ( CNN ).

In the modeling world, she celebrated a comeback, which was crowned in 2006 with the picture series of the Swimsuit Issue from Sport Illustrated .

On July 7, 2007, Němcová was one of the presenters for Live Earth in New York City. On June 30, 2008, she was presented as the new Otto star model in the autumn / winter 2008 collection “Mission Color” in Hamburg.

She has been married to Benjamin Larretche since August 2019 and became the mother of a boy at the end of November.
