Petra Uhlmann

Petra Uhlmann (born February 25, 1960 in Schwerin ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After graduating from the Goethe-Gymnasium in Schwerin, Uhlmann began studying plant production at the University of Rostock , which she completed with a diploma and doctorate. After her political work as the first Minister of the Environment of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, she became a press and public relations employee at PreussenElektra in Hanover and later the company's press spokesperson. Today she is head of corporate communications at E.ON Kernkraft .

Uhlmann is a member of the CDU.

Uhlmann was a member of the district council of the Schwerin-Land district in the early 1990s and chaired the CDU parliamentary group there.

Public offices

On October 27, 1990, Uhlmann was appointed Minister for the Environment to the government of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania led by Prime Minister Alfred Gomolka and was also a member of the subsequent government led by Prime Minister Berndt Seite . During her tenure she took part in the development of the administration and the designation of new national parks. Because of the affair surrounding the Schönberg landfill , she resigned from her ministerial office on March 30, 1993, together with State Secretary for the Environment Peter-Uwe Conrad .
