Petras Geniušas

Petras Geniušas (born February 6, 1961 in Vilnius ) is a Lithuanian pianist and music teacher, professor at the Lithuanian Music and Theater Academy .

Life

From 1979 to 1981 studied Petras Geniušas at the Lithuanian Music and Theater Academy and from 1981 to 1985 at Wera Gornostajewa at Conservatory in Moscow .

From 1990 he taught at the Lithuanian Music and Theater Academy, from 1992 in Tokyo at the Yamaha Music Foundation and from 1996 to 1998 at the London Music Academy . Since 1999 he has been teaching piano at the Music Faculty of the Lithuanian Music and Theater Academy. Since 2011 he has held the chair for piano at the Music Academy of the Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas .

In 1992 Petras Geniušas was awarded Lietuvos nacionalinė kultūros ir meno premija .

family

His father was the conductor Rimas Geniušas ; his brother Julius Geniušas (* 1962) is also a conductor. His mother Irena Žemaitytė-Geniušienė (* 1932) is a graphic artist.

Petras Geniušas is married to Ksenija Knorre , the daughter of Gornostajewa. His son Lukas Geniušas is a pianist.
