The Petri-Pauli-Kirche is the main Evangelical Lutheran church in Bad Münder am Deister .

history

The first church was probably built in the middle of the 10th century when the village of Münder was reclassified from the mission area of the Fulda monastery to the diocese of Minden . In 1440 the construction of a new Gothic stone church with a massive defensive tower and bell tower began. After it was destroyed in the Hildesheim Stiftsfehde (1519), the nave was repaired. The tower was rebuilt in its current form in 1528.

With the introduction of the Reformation in Münder, the church was handed over to Protestant worship in 1543.

The roof of the church tower was redesigned in baroque style during renovation work in 1751 and received its current shape. Due to insufficient capacity, the late medieval nave was demolished in 1839 and replaced by a classicist new building under the direction of the Springer builder Wedekind, which was inaugurated in 1840. Today's church faces north.
The Gothic tower remained standing. It was renovated from 2005 to 2009 in extensive construction work under the direction of Constantin Anastasiou. The acceptance (2005) and reassembly (2008) of the tower helmet with the help of a crane was spectacular.

Furnishing

Interior

Inside the church, the altar area was fundamentally redesigned in 1939. In the tympanum above the altar, the mural Jesus holds judgment was installed, which was whitewashed in 1964 according to contemporary tastes. It was not until 1995 that the state of 1939 was largely restored during a renewed renovation.
