Petrie is a suburb of Brisbane , the capital of the Australian state of Queensland . The place is about 25 kilometers north of downtown Brisbane. The population was 8,674 in 2016.

history

The origin of the suburb name comes from an early inhabitant named Tom Petrie. The community was called Petrie after his death. Previously the area was known as North Pine. Tom Petrie was a respected figure in the area because of his community work and collaboration with local residents.
