Coordinates: 27 ° 17 ′ S , 152 ° 55 ′ E The Moreton Bay Region is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Queensland . The area is 2042 km² and has about 425,000 inhabitants.
geography
The region is located in the southeast of the state on the coast and is bordered by Brisbane City to the south .
The administrative seat of the LGA is the Strathpine district with around 9500 inhabitants. Today's Moreton Bay Region was created in 2008 from the City of Redcliffe and the two Shires Caboolture and Pine Rivers.

The Moreton Bay Regional Council has 13 members. Twelve councilors are elected by the residents of the twelve divisions (constituencies). The council chairman and mayor (mayor) is also elected by all residents of the region.
