Lake Petrov ( Kyrgyz Петров көлү ) is a glacial edge lake in Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia .
The Petrow Lake is located at the foot of the Petrow Glacier on the northwestern edge of the Ak-Schyirak mountain group in the interior of Tian Shan . The glacial rim lake is dammed up by a moraine that acts as a natural dam.
The Petrowsee lies at an altitude of 3741 m . The lake area has increased in recent years. One of the reasons for this is that the Petrov Glacier is increasingly retreating. In 1911 the lake area was 0.2-0.3 km². In 1995 it was 2.78 km² and in 2006 it was 3.90 km². The lake is drained via the Kumtor , a right tributary of the Great Naryn .
