The Ak-Schyirak ( Kyrgyz Ак-Шыйрак ; Russian Акшийрак Akschirak ) is a mountain range of the Tian Shan in the east of Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia .
Ak-Shyirak is located south of Terskej-Alatau . It extends over a length of about 50 km in SSW-NNE direction. The Ak-Schyriak forms the headwaters of the Great Naryn . The upper reaches of the Ütschköl form the northern and eastern boundaries of the mountains. The mountains of the Kuiljutau range rise further to the east . In the south lies the Ak-Schyirak lowland through which the river Ak-Schyirak flows . The glaciated mountain range in the Dschamansuu reaches a maximum height of 5126 m . At the foot of the largest glacier, the Petrowgletscher which is Petrowsee . The glacier area is given as 439 km². The mountain range consists of slate , limestone and granite . The Kumtor gold mine is located on the western edge of the mountains .
