Peter IV. Emons

Petrus Emons (* 1689 in Raeren near Eupen , Belgium; † March 18, 1751 in Marienstatt or in Arienheller ) was the 42nd abbot of Marienstatt Abbey . His tenure ran from 1735 to 1751.

Live and act

Petrus Emons made his profession in 1707 in the Abbey of Marienstatt , received tonsure and minores on September 19, 1710. On September 24, 1712 he was ordained a subdeacon. A year later, on September 23, 1713, he was ordained a priest. It is documented that he became novice master in 1731 and cellerar of the abbey in 1733.

For Abt he was elected 1735th During his time as abbot, the Marienstatter Church was rebuilt in the late Baroque style. The inauguration in 1747 also fell during his term of office. The wrought iron railing on the dormitory stairs and the gate house were also completed during his tenure .

On September 10, 1733, a coadjutor was made available to him at his request . A little later, on August 20, 1770, Abbot Petrus died in the monastery courtyard in Arienheller . Emons was buried in the church of the Cistercian convent Sankt Katharinen near Linz. Other sources say that there was an artistically designed tombstone in the chapter house of the Marienstatt Abbey.
