Petrus Marmagen

Petrus Marmagen (* in Marmagen ; † 1604 in Arnstein ad Lahn) was abbot of the Premonstratensian Monastery of Arnstein an der Lahn .

Petrus Marmagen took office as Abbot Peter III in 1592 . Marmagen on. To distinguish it from predecessors of the same name, the name of his place of birth Marmagen was added.

His work is recorded in the first volume of the Annales Praemonstratensis (Nancy 1734) by Abbot Charles Louis Hugo of Prémontré . He was the 27th abbot of the Arnstein Premonstratensian Convention and the third to bear the name of the apostle Peter . One of his great achievements is that, after the Duchy of Nassau had converted to Protestantism , he safely led the abbey under the patronage of the Archbishopric of Trier .
