Peugeot 1906

The Peugeot (1906) was a racing motorcycle from the French manufacturer Peugeot . The two-cylinder V-engine with a displacement of 726 cm³ produced 5 to 7 hp , depending on the source  . The engine of the Peugeot (1906) had controlled exhaust valves, the intake valves were opened "automatically" by the negative pressure of the aspirating piston. The rear wheel was driven directly via a belt. Walter "Skinny" Collins drove through the mile in Los Angeles in February 1907 in one minute (corresponding to 96.5 km / h). The engine was also delivered to Norton ; Rem Fowler won the first race of the Isle of Man TT on May 28, 1907 . Later, a 944 cc engine was developed by Peugeot, with which North London Garage set the first time record.
